Babymetal - Biography
Babymetal is a kawaii metal trio formed in 2010 in Japan. Babymetal is the sub unit “Heavy Music Club” of the idol group さくら学院 (Sakura Gakuin). The group first appeared on さくら学院’s debut album Sakura Gakuin 2010 Nendo ~message~ in April 2011, performing the track “Do・Ki・Do・Ki☆Morning”.
Their name, Babymetal (ベビーメタル, [bebiimetaru]) is a play on the Japanese pronunciation of “heavy metal” (ヘヴィメタル [heviimetaru]).

Before her professional debut, Suzuka was a student at the Actors School Hiroshima, whose graduates include Perfume. In 2003, she won the grand prix award for the “Bandai Jewel Drop Image Girl Contest”. After that, she also won the grand prix award at “Amuse’s 2nd Annual Star Kids Audition” that started her career. In 2008, she joined the idol group 可憐Girl’s (Karen Girl’s) until their breakup in 2009. A year later, she began to appear in musicals. She then joined the idol group さくら学院 in 2010. She graduated さくら学院 March 31st, 2013 but is still vocalist of BABYMETAL.
Suzuka collects books and stationary.

Moa got her start after winning the grand prix award, out of 10,000 applicants, for the “Ciao Girl Audition 2007” and won a contract with Amuse. Three years later, she joined the idol group さくら学院.
